CHICAGO: The Indian Independent Day celebrations organized by the Federation of Indian Associations, Chicago, turned out to be a highly successful affair with huge participation by the mainstream Indian Americans from across Chicagoland. Besides colorful floats, the Grand Mela regenerated after lapse of a few years, provided great attraction.
Keerthi Ravoori, the FIA President, said that patriotic fervor was all in evidence throughout the celebrations and it proved that India as a nation with huge diversity has its own charm and vibrancy. “The people had thronged both sides of the rails from Western Ave to near California Ave where in Grand Mela turned out to be a huge melting point for members of diverse Indian communities,” he said.
