CHICAGO: The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA-Chicago), hosted a spectacular India Independence Day Gala Banquet at the Waterford Banquet Hall and a stirring Flag Hoisting ceremony at Daley Plaza-City Hall Chicago. These events showcased the rich tapestry of Indian culture and the unwavering spirit of freedom.
The Waterford Banquet Hall underwent a breathtaking transformation, adorned with vibrant decor representing India’s national colors – saffron, white, and green Tricolor decorations graced the banquet hall, and a special centerpiece reflecting Indian culture sat on a tricolor tablecloth.
The guest list was a testament to the event’s inclusivity, featuring a mix of political leaders, foreign dignitaries, cultural icons, celebrities, diplomats, military officials, business leaders, academics, and representatives from various sectors. Notable attendees included Consul General of IndiaSomnath Gosh, Congressmen Raja Krishnamoorthi and Danny Davis, Ms. Santosh KumarMafat Patel among others. Special recognition was accorded to dignitaries from India.
President Dr. Rashmi Patel in his speech mentioned that this year FIA hosted and conducted many more community events.  He mentioned that   FIA has regain the NFP status again, celebrated the International Yoga picnic day, Meet and greet with CG Somanath Ghosh, created Women Power cell and FIA Youth Cell, New working web site) and will be celebrating Gandhi Jayanti. He also announced an AROGYA Day for community health education.
Flag Hoisting was done at Daley Plaza-City Hall Chicago. The day commenced with a heartfelt Flag Hoisting ceremony at Daley Plaza-City Hall Chicago. Among others including President Dr. Rashmi Patel, CG Somnath Ghosh, and Sambhaji Raje Chhatrapati, participated in this solemn event, paying homage to India’s struggle for independence.
Cultural Extravaganza Showcasing rich cultural heritage of India was done at the Waterford Banquet Hall. Various performances captured the essence of Indian traditions, including classical dance forms like Bharatanatyam and Kathak, as well as traditional folk dances that mesmerized the audience. Musical performances ranged from classical Hindustani music to modern Indian music genres. A special highlight was a medley of patriotic songs that played a crucial role during the independence struggle.
In a heartfelt gesture, all the Trustees and the President of FIA-Chicago were honored for their contributions with special mementos presented by Maria Pappas.
Women Power cell and youth cell worked very hard and assisted and conducted both the program very well.  The youth cell will conduct the Volleyball and Cricket tournament soon.
