FLORIDA: Maheshwar Foundation of Florida, USA will be holding free eye camps in UP (Uttar Pardesh) and Punjab from October 10 to November 4.

The Foundation is holding these free medical camps for past few years. Many US trained physicians, nurses and other para-medical staff travel at their own expenses to serve in medical camps. Local lodging and travel is generally provided by Maheshwar Foundation and hosts in India.

Some of the patients have not seen a fully trained doctor in their entire life. Some can’t afford, some are afraid to go even for a checkup. With local volunteers they feel comfortable and it is the practice of Maheshwar Foundation to have at least one relative present with the patient so that patients fully understand the procedures, medicines and post-operative care if needed.

The Foundation has arranged Cardiac, Eye, Orthopedic camps in various places for years. Free medicines are also provided. Follow up is done by local doctors. For eye camps, medicines and lenses are purchased locally by the Foundation and sometimes provided by US pharmaceutical companies which make it easy for US doctors to treat.

Last year an Orthopedic camp was held at Baba Balwant Singh Charitable Hospital in Urmar Tanda, Dist.Hoshiarpur, Punjab, India under the guidance of Baba Gurdial Singhji (caretaker of Baba Balwant Singh Charitable …not for profit) Hospital. Many free eye camps have been held at Rampur, Bilaspur in Uttar Pardesh.

Beauty of camps in Bilaspur is that it is a Jain Hospital, patients are mostly Muslims and free food is provided by local Sikh gurdwara. “You feel the presence of God in these camps,” says Dr Deepak Kapoor…the founder of Maheshwar Foundation.
Some students accompany the teams to get a feel of charity work and to see India. Some sightseeing is arranged for visitors when time permits. If you know of anyone who can take advantage of these camps or if anyone wants to join and help, kindly contact Dr Deepak Kapoor at 321-610-4265, Daljit S Saini at 847-736-6092Basatit@aol.com.

The donations received are used exclusively for the benefit of the patients. Maheshwar Foundation has no salaried persons, no administrative or other expenses… The Foundation is approved by the IRS section (501) (c) (3) and the donations are tax-deductible.
