Fremont Vice-Mayor Teresa Cox hosted the 40th Annual National Night Out and the largest event in Fremont. Vice-Mayor Cox presented to Dr. Romesh Japra, FOG Founder and Convener, the 2023 National Night Out Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Fremont Community.
Cox stated, “Dr. Japra has demonstrated many years of leadership, collaborative efforts with numerous organizations for city-wide celebrations of Diwali, India Independence Day Parade and Mela, and Holi Festival, and have made a significant impact to our community. You are being honored for your outstanding service with much appreciation. Our community is a better place because of you.”
Dr. Japra stated, “Thank You Fremont Vice-Mayor Teresa Cox for this honor! I have worked with you for many years. Thank you for your leadership and working tirelessly for bringing our community together and making it a safe place for all. I would like to invite the attendees to join us along with other elected and community leaders to participate in the 34th Annual India Independence Day Parade and Mela on Sunday, August 20.”
This National Night Out event featured Fremont Police Chief Sean Washington, Deputy Police Chief Lance Brede, Fremont Police Officers, Fremont City Manager/CEO Karena Shackleford, Fremont Fire Chief Zoraida Diaz, Fremont Fire Deputy Chief Heather Mozdean, Fremont Firefighters, the award-winning Fremont Irvington High School Cheer Team with Head Coach Rowena Cowan, Angela Tirado, the Voice of the Bay Area Singer, Victor Thuy Vi McDowell, South Bay Teen Idol Winner, and Dhaval N. Shah, Bollywood Singer and High Tech Executive. Tesla performed a laser light show in the latest Model X. Vice-Mayor Cox sponsored the Mister Softee Ice Cream Truck. Neighbors brought pizza. Other community and elected officials were present for this National Night Out.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes fire and police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community.
