CHICAGO: The ‘Gujarati Samaj Of Chicago (GSC) celebrated Diwali 2022 Gala Banquet in Willow Brook, a Chicago suburb with over 900 members participating.
The start was with GSC President Bhavesh Shah and GSC Advisory Council Chairman Suryakant Patel welcomed all guests and members and said “ thank you for joining Diwali Gala Banquet” They offered good wishes for Diwali and New year.
The Event’s Chief guest was Community leader Dr. Bharatbhai Barai and his wife Panna Barai They were honored with flower Bouquets and in their address observed that “ Diwali is the festival of lights and it’s give the message we have to keep peace around the world as the whole world is one family.”
The nearly four hours Program began with Lamp lightning by Bharti Desai, Urvashi Patel, Mauli and Bhavesh Shah Entertainment was provided by ‘RangRasiya” group from India. They sang a song from 60′, 70’ and 80’ like ‘Mera Naam Chin Chin Chu ba ba Chin chin chu’, Jis ki bivi lambi, Uska bhi… song sung by Sanjay, and he mimicked the action and style of movie star like ‘Shammi Kapoor, Raj Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna, Dharmendra, Jitendra with the song ‘ Tum say achha koan hai…One of dancers performed dance from legend actress ‘Sri Devi’ movie. The program Emcees were from Chicago, and a very popular one Bharti Desai did an excellent job.
At the end program Active GSC President announced ‘Gujarati Samaj of Chicago new elected officials of year 2023-2024 (2 Year Term) as follow:
President– Dakshesh Modi, Vice President- Vatsal Shah, General Secretary- Bhavita Sheth, Joint General Secretary- Yatinkumar Patel, Treasurer- Nimesh Shah, Joint Treasurer- Amit Desai, Cultural Secretary- Chanda Shah, Joint Cultural Secretary- Payal Shah
