Sunidhi, Zafar make audience dance to their tunes
LOS ANGELES: On the night of April 20, Sunidhi Chauhan and Ali Zafar put on a spectacular performance in the Nokia Theater to celebrate the achievements of Sankara Eye Foundation. The Foundation has reached a grand milestone of the 1 million free eye surgeries and expansion of multiple hospitals in the US and India.
The ‘Krazy2’ superstars had the large audience dancing and moving to the rhythm of various genres of music.
During the break of the performance, a presentation about the Foundation’s initiative and goals to save brothers and sisters from going blind were brought to the attention of every person’s heart. The audience focused their deepest concerns on the issue at hand.
The audience’s whole-heartedness was vividly shown when a big round-of-applause was given to the presenter, Chairman of the Foundation, Murali Krishnamurthy.
Rakesh Maini, a finalist in the Indian Idol reality show, spoke about his background in music and introduced the two main artists in a bold and playful manner, which set the tone for the electrifying evening.
As Sunidhi Chauhan made a grand entrance singing “Aisa Jadoo” along with the bright lights accentuating her outfit, people’s eyes and ears fixated to her awe-struck presence.
She had an uncanny ability to move seamlessly from a variety of genres including a trendy Bollywood Punjabi song to the famous American hit song, Christina Aguilera’s “I am beautiful”. Throughout the night, she continued to impress the audience as she sung, with her room-filling vocals, “My Name is Sheela” and “Beedi Jalaile Jigar Se”.
Although Ali Zafar came on to the stage with laid-back attire and seemly mellow demeanor, he rapidly brought out the excitement from the audience by performing favored hits such as “Who Dekhneymein” and “Ajaa Ajaa Mai Hoon Pyar Tera”. Zafar expressed his charm as he moved his way off the stage into the vicinity of the large crowd, allowing the audience to feed off of his energy. Not only did he sing his heart out, he also came back to the stage to dance to the ever-so-popular Nache Re Nache Madhubala.
As the event came to an end, Krishnamurthy and the National promoters of Balaji Entertainment Inc. were invited on stage by the two artists. Krishnamurthy showed his gratitude by explaining the benefits received from the show and how it had shined a greater light on issues of blindness suffered by the under-privileged. Krishnamurthy exclaimed that through events like this, the foundation should be able to run a minimum of twenty hospitals all over India by the year 2020. Currently, Kanpur Hospital construction is about to start and the Guntur Hospital is ready for further expansion.
