PHAGWARA: Batting for another Sainik School in state, Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal has declared that the state government will present its case strongly about before the Union government.
Addressing as Chief Guest the 58th Annual Day function of Sainik School Kapurthala, Badal said that Punjabis had made supreme sacrifices for the Independence of the country and were now always ready for its security.
“Therefore, the state needs a second Sainik school,” he asserted. Lauding the Sanik school, Badal said it had made a major contribution in sending cadets to Indian army. “By remaining in discipline, with high moral spirits, making optimum use of time, the cadets should join the National Defence Academy (NDA) in large numbers to have the pride of serving the nation”, Badal maintained, motivating students.
He announced a Rs 6-crore grant for the school and meritorious students were given prizes. Tilak House was awarded the NDA Trophy for sending the maximum cadets to NDA. School Principal Col. Vikas Mohan welcomed the chief guest and read out school report.
ADC (G) Rahul Chaba, Lt. Commandant Dilpreet Singh Kang, SDM Varinder Bajwa, alumni of the school, parents and army officials were present on the occasion.
