CHENNAI: The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation has launched multi-utility vehicle service for popular destinations in Andhra Pradesh like Tirupati, to cater to tourists who want to travel by cars rather than buses.
The ‘small coach service’ would cater to segments of tourists who would like journey in cars with their families or friends alone rather than traveling as part of larger groups in bus.
The tourism corporation would take care of requirements, including food and accommodation, besides “darshan” at pilgrimage centers like Tirupati.
The corporation was willing to work out special customized packages to suit the requirements of small groups and families traveling to destinations in Andhra Pradesh, especially pilgrimage centers like Tirupati and Srisailam, Sumeet Singh, Executive Director, APTD, told reporters here.
Such services are being offered from Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad besides other centers, he said.
In the wake of disturbances caused by the pro and anti Telangana protests, tourists in Andhra Pradesh were facing difficulties.
The top APTD official was here as part of the tourism promotion body’s efforts to tell people that “all is well in Andhra Pradesh now and that tourists and pilgrims are welcome.”
“Now everything is fine and we welcome everyone to Andhra Pradesh,” he said.
Customized packages in MUVs or luxury coaches could be worked out to several other destinations like Mypadu beach (180 km) and Horsely Hills (240 km) from Chennai considering the proximity, said Srinivasan, Manager, APTDC.
The corporation has hotels and resorts across Andhra Pradesh including in lesser known places like Araku and Dindi, he added. -PTI
