NEW DELHI: With Narendra Modi raising questions over Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s role in the G-20 summit, the PMO highlighted his intervention at the meet where he pitched for innovative financing schemes to increase job creation in developing nations.
Hours after Modi’s barb in Jaipur, the PMO tweeted, “PM’s interventions at G-20 reflected in the final declaration.”
It cited the speech made by Singh at the meet held in St Petersburg on September 5.
The Prime Minister had said, “International labor mobility in high end skills has become an important aspect of global integration across countries.
“Pending the evolution of international agreements in this area, we must do whatever we can to avoid new restrictive measures, which can stifle a sector that can contribute to global growth in the years ahead.”
He said all leaders have agreed that growth and job creation should be the central message of the summit.
Singh noted a key instrument for growth and job creation in developing countries is investment in infrastructure.
Earlier in the day, Modi, addressing an election rally in the Rajasthan capital had slammed the Prime Minister.
“After returning from G-20 summit, nation does not know what PM has done there what he had said there… what kind of India’s representation he made there… what kind of issues raised at the international level… no new information is made available to countrymen,” Modi said.-PTI
