Ski resorts set to start outdoor activitiesCHARLESTON, W.Va.: Some West Virginia ski resorts have started outdoor activities in West Virginia.

Snowshoe Mountain Resort in Marlinton says on its website that its winter season has started. At Canaan Valley Resort State Park in Davis, general manager Steve Drumheller says the resort’s 1,200-foot tube run and ice skating area are now open.

Winterplace Ski Resort in southern West Virginia and Timberline Four Seasons Resort in Davis plan to start ski activities sometime later depending on the weather.

The ski and snowboard season traditionally runs from Thanksgiving through early April. AP
