At a press conference recently, Deepika agreed that the heroes make much more money than the heroines. But, she said, there has been a huge shift in parameters if it is compared with what the heroines used to receive before. She made a point that money must not be given the pivotal importance in any piece of art. And she stressed on the importance of love and admiration that she receives from her audience that touches her heart far beyond materialistic comfort.
The press cited the example of Katrina Kaif as she had no significant role to play in ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ and that she was treated as an eye-candy only. Deepika pointed out that Katrina felt her role was difficult and she had to slog hard for the same. So it will be injustice to call it a showpiece role. Thereafter, witty Deepika added that being a heroine is an arduous task. Effort and hard work are quintessential in the line of acting. Even though it looks glamorous from exterior, it demands patience and hard work at its zenith.
