Spellbinding tributes to legends of Bollywood

MILPITAS, CA: Unique Productions presented a mesmerizing musical concert, “Tribute to Legends” in association with Ajmer Rana and Jayant Kumar on August 30 at ICC, Milpitas, CA.

The Venue was packed with full capacity of 600+ and was set up like Bollywood stage with large pictures of all movie stars beginning from Raj Kapoor. It was a historic concert. The main organizer Abhinav was excited to see people from different backgrounds and age groups present at the show. Many folks couldn’t buy the tickets at the door since it was a sold out event.

The musical program started with Golden era songs. Alka Bhatnagar, “The Nightingale of Bay Area” who was awarded by Raj Kapoor himself and blessed by music legend RD Burman, brought Bollywood to Bay Area with her awesome melodious voice. Alka’s versatility, style and range encompasses classical music, through playback to light and popular. It is rare to find such a multifaceted talent.

She started with haunting melodies like, “Ayega anewala, Lag ja Gale, Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha, Nigahein milane ko,”, and mesmerized the audience with old to new hits. Alka also performed latest hits like “Ooo lala, Sharara” and duets like Kajra mohabbat wala with Seema Verma. Seema also with her velvet voice kept the aura of old melodies like “Tera mera pyar amar, O saathi re” and won the hearts of audience.

Jatinder Singh with his powerful voice kept the crowd entertained with hits like Ek ajnabe haseena & Naina thag lenge. Rohit Saini, who is a very versatile and dashing singer, gave hits like “Papa kehte hein & Jeevan ke har mod pe’ with Alka. Varun Tiwari rocked the stage with his tribute to Rafi Saheb. He sang songs like Pardah hai Pardah, Badan pe sitare and latest hits like “Tum hi ho”. For almost four hours the audience remained spellbound, enjoying the Bollywood evening and still craving for more.
