Young talent shows promise in Carnatic concert

MILPITAS, CA: Carnatic Chamber Concerts also known as CCC is a group dedicated to fostering young kids learning Carnatic music, by way of hosting monthly events. This is an excellent forum for beginners, intermediate and advanced learners to showcase their talent and helps them to relate to the peer performers in a positive environment.
This group was founded by Padma Mohan in December 2008 and its inaugural concert was on January 1 2009 and the group has been having concerts every month with some exceptions. CCC is a no-money organization and the operations are run with help from parent volunteers.
December CCC event was held at Sri Sathyanarayanaswamy Devasthanam, Milpitas on December 2 from 2:00 to 4:45 pm. It was a packed show with wonderful performances by talented Bay area kids. Archita Padmanabhan, Janani Sekar, Sruthi Jagan, Preethika Ashok and Sarika Sriram were given the introduction slot for about 10 minutes each and they awed the audience with their wonderful singing. Sandhya Chari and Kirthana Srikanth, repeat performers in CCC concert every year, enthralled the audience with their mesmerizing performances for about 40 minutes.
Sandhya Chari is a disciple of Sri. Ajay Nambudiri and is a 10th grader from Mission San Jose High School, Fremont. She has won several awards in FIA and Papanasam Sivam Festival. Kirthana Srikanth is a disciple of Smt. Sangeetha Swaminathan and is a junior from Dougherty Valley High School, San Ramon.
Accompanying artists were Ajay Gopi, Akshay Aravindan, Sanjay Chandrasekar and Nithin Sampath on the mrudangam. They supported the vocalists and it was a treat for the audience. Divya Mohan, Malini Mahes, Sanjna Arvind, Vignesh Thyagarajani on the violin and Priyanka Chary on the veena provided awesome support.
Padma Mohan spoke about the growth of CCC and reiterated that the purpose of show was to nurture young talents. She feels proud on its phenomenal growth in Bay area. She thanked the parents for their relentless support, Mr Namdev Nayak and his team for professional audio setup, Mr Jayaraman for audio setup for concerts.
She made a special mention on CCC’s regular team of volunteers, Nami (website), Prasanna (photos), Latha (membership), Radha, Balaji, Pramila (food co-ordinators), Sriram (bios projection), and Viji (budding artists maintenance) for their support and hard work.
