When Tulsi Indian Eatery—the upscale fast-casual Indian restaurant known for its regional specialties crafted by master chefs—first opened its doors in the financial district of Los Angeles amidst the pandemic, the Executive Team saw an opportunity to further highlight and extend its culinary prowess with its community.
From this, Tulsi expanded its capabilities to cater to an array of events including weddings, corporate meetings and more, and brought on Catering Manager, Chaitali Antonio, in 2021 to jump-start this journey. Today, Tulsi offers curated packages that are sure to create a memorable experience by showcasing the heritage of Indian cuisine and rich, authentic flavors.
Prior to joining the team at Tulsi Indian Eatery, Chaitali garnered a decade’s worth of restaurant and catering experience back home in Bengaluru. Her journey began with helping out her mother-in-law in the kitchen of their family-owned business before moving on to corporate catering from 2005 through 2015.
At first, Chaitali never imagined her career path would lead her down the service industry route, but eventually, it grew on her and she fell more in love with it day by day.
“When it comes to catering, whether it’s 20 people, 100 people or even thousands, it is crucial to thoroughly listen to your client’s needs and craft a curated menu that ultimately fits the demand of all attendees,” said Chaitali. “At the end of the day, it’s not just the music, outfits or activities that are most remembered, it’s the food that brings everyone together.”
In Bengaluru, Chaitali was tasked with feeding crowds as large as 3,000 individuals. Whether it entailed packed lunches for the local university or, weddings for large families, the amount of attendees did not scare Chaitali away.
Instead, she saw this as opportunity to pay extra attention to details of menus and logistics, while carefully considering the varying needs of her clients. One way Chaitali provides these services is by understanding her clients’ background. She is familiar with many dialects and regions of food, which allows her to easily curate menus.
Since 2021, Chaitali has established strong and lasting relationships with her clients who have come to Tulsi for their catering needs. Chaitali recognizes that these relationships allow Tulsi to continuously provide unforgettable dining experiences.
“Tulsi caters to an array of events to ensure we provide service to every vertical and meet our clients where they are at,” said Chaitali Antonio. “From corporate events such as office lunches, birthdays or small gatherings; celebrations such as baby or bridal showers; or weddings–we do it all.”
Tulsi offers three packages (silver, gold and platinum) priced at different tiers that include appetizers, curries, daal, rice, bread from their in-house bread-makers, dessert and an array of condiments including their homemade pickles.
Within these packages, guests have the option to pick formats between live stations, party trays, onsite catering, custom menus and even event space which can be rented out at Tulsi’s flagship location in Northridge, California. While Tulsi is known for its vegetarian, plant-based, vegan and gluten-free options, Tulsi’s catering also meets the needs of its clients by including non-vegetarian options that are prepared by an affiliate caterer, with Chaitali’s oversight, in a separate kitchen.
As Tulsi Indian Eatery’s catering services continue to surpass the limits of traditional dining experiences, Tulsi’s commitment to authenticity, personalized services and culinary artistry will continue to provide enchanting moments, highlighting the world of Indian gastronomy.
