Hamdard Center granted homecare services

CHICAGO: Local non-profit Hamdard Center has been granted ‘In Home Care Services’ by the Illinois Department on Aging. To mark this occasion, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held at Hamdard on May 1 at 11am.

Local officials attending the ceremony were Cathy Smith, Chief of Staff for Senator Heather Steans office and Pat Ewert, Community Outreach Coordinator for State Representative Kelly Cassidy’s office. Both Ms Smith and Ms Ewert addressed the seniors gathered at Hamdard and spoke of the importance of the community care programs (CCP) for seniors and pledged continued support to keep funding for CCP as a priority.

Hamdard’s Executive Director Kiran Siddiqui thanked Ms Smith and Ms Ewert as well as the seniors who came to attend the ceremony and also introduced the first senior who became Hamdard’s First In Home Care Client. In her brief address, she also observed that “with the current state fiscal crisis, this was a momentous feat for organizations such as Hamdard to receive payment from the state so that we can continue to provide services to seniors”.

The In Home Care program is for seniors and is staffed by dependable and hard working caregivers who assist seniors in their homes with household tasks such as light house keeping, planning and preparing meals following special diets, doing laundry, shopping and running errands, assistance with personal care tasks such as dressing, bathing, grooming and accompanying the seniors on doctor’s visits.

These caregivers service Hamdard’s clients throughout the week, including weekends and holidays.
