SUNNYVALE, CA: Shirdi Sai Darbar temple, facing eviction from its present premises, is fighting a court case pleading for time to relocate to a new site. It has appealed to the Indian community at large to support them in their cause and help them fight to get enough time to vacate the current premises.
This temple is facing a crisis in terms of the place where they are located. Existing temple building was sold to a software company, Fortinet on August 7 and the company served the mandir a 30-day notice to vacate the premises. The temple management has found an alternative place on 255 Geronimo Way, Sunnyvale and would get all the approvals on the same by January 27, 2013.
They requested the owner to extend the notice period till then. But the company was stubborn and took the matter to court. The temple management is currently fighting the case in the court. They are ready to vacate the place and are only requesting the owners for extension of time till January 2013.
Shirdi Sai Darbar is a non-profit organization serving the Bay Area from February 2011 and caters to over 15000 devotees residing in South Bay region. Baba’s murthi weighs about 2000 lbs and was imported from India. It is a volunteer based organization operating from 897, Kifer Road, Sunnyvale. The temple activities include sai aarthi, abhisheka, rudram, Thursday annadhana, bhajan, sandwich seva to name a few. Special puja is performed every Thursday which is attended by over 2000 people.
Shirdi Sai Darbar organizers list the reasons why they need time to relocate. The new place is not ready with license; they do not want to close the temple which serves about 15,000 Bay area devotees. There are also religious requirements such as auspicious day, time to install the Mool Murthi in its new place.

The temple management says they would welcome the devotees to help the organization financially and the funds would be used for getting a permanent building for the mandir on its own.
To show their protest on the issue, the management had organized silent rallies on October 8 and 9 from 12-1pm. The rallies were attended by over 150-200 devotees.
