Telugus celebrate Silicon Manabadi Festival

TELUGU FESTIVAL-webCHICAGO: Silicon Andhra Manabadi Cultural Festival (MCF) was celebrated in a grand way at Balaji Temple Auditorium in Aurora, a south west suburb of Chicago, on Saturday, April 19 with more than 100 students from Manabadi schools from Aurora, Bloomington, Bolingbrook, Schaumburg and West Dundee participating

It was the first ever MCF event in Illinois and around 500 Telugu lovers came to attend the Shoba Yatra. Jay Tummala and Mani Tellapragada anchored the program as the primary MCs while the Manabadi students from various schools handled the MC role for individual cultural activities.

The event kicked off with individual classes led by their teachers presenting their performance. This Shobha Yatra was much appreciated by all those present. Bhasha Jyothi came from West of the country and was carried to the stage by Smt & Sri Visweswara Rao Duvvuri & Smt & Sri Ramana Murthy Yadavalli. It was handed to the next generation as a passing of language gift. All the kids were blessed by Pandit with Veda Pravachanam.

Cultural programs were kicked off with “Maatelugutalliki Mallepoodanda”, followed by Manabadi geetham composed by Smt Vishala Avadhanam.

The audience appreciated the songs which were replayed towards the end of the program. Manabadi students then presented skits such as “Mullupoye Katti Vache dham dham”, “Bangaru Mamidipandla daanam”, “Navvula Paathasala”, “Aatma Viswaasam”, “Vrutthvadhaanam” which touched on various social, moral learnings as well as exhibiting core Telugu cultural values.

Smt Sneha Vedula recognized and presented all the Manabadi teachers and volunteers with mementos for their dedication towards promoting Telugu language in Illinois.

The Illinois MCF coordinator Mandava Rao gave an overview of MCF and services rendered by Siliconandhra. Smt Sujatha Appalaneni spoke on Chicago area schools development, future plans and her motivation to lead the first Manabadi in Greater Chicago area. Smt. Sucharita Addanki explained about balanandam. Sarat Veta – Overseas Marketing Director spoke on importance of Telugu learning and developments in Siliconandhra.

ATA president Karunkar Madhavaram, TAGC President Srinivas Pedamallu and TTA President Jagadish Kanuru were present and praised Manabadi team for their work towards Telugu language development in the world.

The MCF volunteers were Sujatha Appalaneni, Malati Damaraju, Rama Bhagavatula, Jyothi Chintalapati, Kiran Mattey, Manjula Bhamidi, Jay Tummala, Mani Tellapragada, Srinivas Bhamidipati and Prasad Mocherla. The volunteer group concluded the program with vote of thanks.
