CHICAGO: Police Chief Dave Anderson and Deputy Police Chief Ron Wilke from the Lisle Police Department, and two officials from Law Enforcement Outreach and Recruitment Program, actively participated in the educational session that was organized at the Palatine Gurdwara.
It was an outreach effort to introduce careers in law enforcement to the Sikh community, especially to the youth. The police chief introduced the gathering to the process of recruitment and many branches of the department such as 911 dispatch centers, policing, and investigations among others.
Anderson encouraged all eligible Sikhs, including those with turban and beard, to apply. A lot of youth members of the Sikh community interacted with the police staff to know more about the program. The gurdwara’s objective was to make the event a sustainable effort in educating the Sikh community about recruitment and careers in law enforcement.
The police chief and his deputy met with gurudwara officials and enjoyed tea and langar.
