Telugu Association of St.Louis celebrates Ugadi

ST LOUIS: Telugu Association of St. Louis (TAS), Missouri celebrated Manmadha Naama Ugadi Vedukalu on April 26 in a spectacular way at Logan College, Chesterfield, MO. More than 1200 people attended the event. There was a wide range of classical programs performed by local talent and also singers and artists from Tollywood.

Dressed in attires reflecting Telugu culture and tradition, local talent presented singing and dancing programs which drew huge applause from the audience. Stage decoration, audio visuals and great theme to reflect Hindu mythology were the highlights of the event. Huge cut outs of Lord Ganesh, Hindu Temple and mango twigs and birds on the stage created Ugadi festive mood for the audience.

There was a thirty-minute cultural program by local talent which was followed by Tollywood singers Hemachandra and Shravana Bhargavi. Very energetic dance performances by Bhavana and Aadarsh from Tollywood entertained the audience.

President Muralikrishna Puttagunta reminded everyone of the marvelous successes of the past TAS events and laid out TAS’s future plans to get Telugu community involved in social service programs, especially to engage youth in the social activities.

Vice-President Ravindranath Karnati and Secretary Raviraj Kolakaleti played a key role in conducting the event successfully. Treasurer Subha Kalyan Vuyyuru managed member enrollments and reception area while Cultural Secretary Srilahari Dasyam coordinated the cultural events. The participants were awarded TAS trophies.

Authentic South Indian dinner left the taste buds of everyone satisfied.
