MILIPITAS: Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP) and other supporting organizations, held an event, “Namo Sangam”, to highlight the achievements of current government in India and to support and campaign for reelection of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. More than 400 people participated in the event that was organized in Jain Temple, Milpitas, California.
The event started with patriotic Indian songs by Mandeep Singh, the Mohammad Rafi of the Bay Area, Manisha Pathak, Deepak Sachdev and Alka Bhatnagar.
Chandru Bhambhra, Coordinator of OFBJP – N. CA, started the program by welcoming the audience and letting them know the main purpose behind it.
Dr. Romesh Japra, Bay Area community leader and the founder of FIA (Festival of India) and FOG (Festival of Globe), spoke in support of Modi and said that if one wants to see a glorious India and good support for Indian diaspora, one should work hard to bring Modi back to power in the 2019 general elections.
Ashwini Surpur, a community leader, talked about Modi’s initiative in getting the UN to declare June 21 as the International Day of Yoga, the Modi government’s initiatives for women empowerment, including Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana for girls, the triple talaq ban to protect Muslim women from mindless divorces, and stricter laws against rape of girls and women.
Niraj Baxi, immediate Past President of GOPIO said Modiji has faced more of India’s challenges than any other leader. Baxi said that Modi has successfully tackled India’s issues in fiscal discipline, financial management, job generation through creation of around six to seven million new jobs and growth in turns of defense and infrastructure.
“For a society to prosper, it needs external peace and safety and security of the individual people,” Baxi said.
Vijay Simha, Joint General Secretary of HSS, said that, under the able leadership of Modi and his vision, India-US bilateral relations have developed into a global strategic partnership based on shared democratic values and there is increasing collaboration in interests of bilateral, regional and global issues.
“This bilateral cooperation is broad-based, multi-faceted covering trade, investment, defense, security, education, science and technology, civil nuclear energy, space technology and applications,” Simha said.
“With his vision, the genuine intent for progress of India and India-US relationships and strong will to get things done and achieve intended objectives, Prime Minister Modi has materialized many goals in a timely manner.”A zeal in protecting the interests of Bharat embodies the spirit of ‘Chowkidar’ which we all resonate and relate to. Once again, Modi for better India and better India-US relations.”
Khanderao Kand, Founder of GITPRO, FIIDS and member of the National Executive of HSS asked the audience whether India is more secure now and whether India is riots-free now.
“Is India more developed in terms of electrification, roads and railways?” Kand asked.”Are rural and poor Indians getting health coverage now?”
The audience responded with a big “Yes” to all the questions. So, Kand said, it is important to bring this government back to put India at the pinnacle of prosperity.
Krishna Pandey, Founder Shiv Durga Temple said that Modi has made India a strong nation and has done a lot for the people.
“So for this upcoming election, we all should try to go there and explain our voters in India about the achievements of the Modi government to reelect him with a thumping majority,” Pandey said.
Jeevan Zutshithe, Co-founder of Indo-American Community Federation, said India has been suffering in the past decades. Prime Minister Modi is the only choice India has to become one of the greatest countries in the world.
“He is courageous, full of convictions, extremely hard working and selfless. Vote for Modi!” Zutshithe said.
Jashubhai Patel, philanthropist and Board Member of PSPA, FIIDS, National Advisory Council of Los Angeles, said that the opposition parties in India have looted the country for over 60 years and again are trying to give false promises to the people of India. He requested the audience to talk to their friends and relatives in India and explain them what the Modi Government has done in the last five years and convince them to again vote for him and bring him back as Prime Minister.
Raj Salwan, Vice Mayor of Fremont, said that he was very happy that finally, after so many years, India has got Modi as the Prime Minister with conviction and courage.
Rishi Kumar, Council Member of Saratoga, said India will be known as “Before Modi” and “After Modi”.
“The dynamic leadership of Modi has sparked a huge sense of pride in being Indian that was hitherto missing,” Kumar said.
“The new India is getting things done and is fired up. This India is deriving courage from the bold leadership of Prime Minister Modi. I have no doubt Modi will be elected and will continue with India’s progressive path and growth.”
After this, a video clip of Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping, was played. A video conference was also held Shri Kailash Vijayvargiyaji, National General Secretary of BJP.
Gaurang Desai, the coordinator for FISI Bay Area chapter, explained the efficiency of the Modi government in developing India’s infrastructure, be it rail, roads and highways. He compared it with Bay bridge and explained how different and difficult it is to build infrastructure in India without pre-fabricated bricks coming from China as it happens in America. Yet, he said Indian workers under the efficient Modi government have achieved a lot in the last five years..
Satya Kalra, Founder of Path to Anandam, said Modi is the global leader who created a new image for India.
“He has put India on a very high pedestal,” Kalra said. “We NRIs get special recognition and respect in the world. He is a walking example of a true Karmayogi who works selflessly, righteously with love and compassion for the benefits of others. I am sure he will make India a Vishwa Guru!”
Mahesh Pakala, Founder of the Cupertino-Bhubaneswar Sister City Initiative said ‘Garibi Hatao’ slogan by the Congress translated into free dole money for the poor to make them lazy and unproductive vote banks since 1975.
“The BJP helped break the vicious cycle of Muslims sending their kids to madarasas for free education with no employable skills,” Pakala said. “They (the Modi government) enforced inclusion of skill development and NCERT books to study science, to be employable after studying in a madarasas.
Board members of OFBJP-N.CA Chandru Bhambhra, Anurag Dixit, Thipps H., Mahadev K., Ashish Khurana, Amruth Murthy, Shachindra Nath, Raghavendran N., Gaurav Patwardhan, Amit Prakash, Sharath P., Rajan Sadagopan, Judhajit Sen Mazumdar and Shivu Vibhuti helped organize the event Jesal Shah, Sid Shettar and Janmejai Singh helped throughout.
Madhavi Jain, Yoga Bharati teacher and faculty, anchored the program, bringing immense energy through poetry and slogans in support of Modi. The program ended with the singing of the American and Indian national anthems.
