FREMONT, CA: The Ro for Congress campaign has launched a Chinese-language “microsite” designed to engage voters in the community around Ro Khanna’s vision for bringing California’s 17th congressional district into the 21st century.
The first-of-its-kind website provides a translation into Chinese with extensive information about congressional candidate Ro Khanna, his forward-looking ideas for representing the district, and regular blog updates.
The new site demonstrates Ro’s broad commitment to engaging voters in the district and reflects his open and constituent-focused approach to public service.
“Government should be responsive to the needs of its citizens – that means reaching people where they are on the issues that matter most to their families and communities,” said Khanna. “I hope this website speaks to members of the Chinese-America community in a meaningful way and provides an easy portal for them to make their voices heard.”
The microsite is the latest action taken by the campaign to build a strong program to reach key communities throughout the Bay Area. In June, Obama for America campaign veteran Andy Wong joined Ro for Congress as the deputy campaign manager and head of constituency outreach. Last week, the campaign hired Don Sun, Chair of the Cupertino Planning Commission, as its chief advisor on Chinese community outreach. Both Andy and Don bring with them extensive experience in Bay Area politics – together they’re building one of the broadest constituency outreach efforts ever seen in a Congressional race.
