CHICAGO: Bhartiya Senior Citizens of Chicago presented a Gujarati play for Chicago area’s Senior Citizens and friends on Sunday June 6 at Jain Temple auditorium in Bartlett
More than 600 members and friends enjoyed “Thodu Logic Thodu Magic” performed by prominent Indian artist Tiku Talsania and his group.
It was really an impressive and heart-touching family-oriented play. In the audience were many community leaders like Nimesh Jani (Trustee of Schaumburg Township), Tim Schneider (Commissioner of Cook County and Chairman of Illinois for Republican Party), Chhotubhai Patel and presidents of organizations like Gujarati Samaj of Chicago and Kadvapatidar Samaj of Chicago.
Bhartiya Senior Citizens of Chicago President Haribhai Patel said his organization is a Non- Profit serving the large community of Metro Chicago and it arranges various programs such as annual summer picnic, Navratri Garbas (free for every one), celebration of Indian festivals such as Holy, Diwali etc. It also organizes tours to US and other worldwide destinations at reasonable cost to seniors.
More importantly for seniors, it sponsors seminars and talks by experts in various fields such as benefits to seniors from social security, health related issues, yoga and other topics. It entertains seniors by sponsoring dramas, songs, bhajans etc.
Many such activities are sponsored by this organization all year around. For instance, last week a senior Congressman Ed Royce (Chairman of Foreign Relations committee) was invited to address the seniors on a subject of US and India relations. It was well received mutually by the seniors. Once a month members are getting to gather at 343, St. Paul Blvd, Carol Stream, IL. at Rana Regan Center for above referenced activities and at the end a low cost dinner is served to the members and guests.
