CHICAGO: Gujarati Seniors of Chicago established in 2019 organized an entertainment cum social program at Swaminarayan Temple, Streamwood, a Chicago suburb, last week.
Another highlight of the event was to honor Dr. Mehboob Kapadia who had been a front-runner in holding and organizing Corona vaccination drive in different parts of Chicago land with his team
The attendance was good and attending members were given lunch token while membership renewals, as well as New Members, getting enrolled.
Bharat Thakkar, addressing the audience, informed Members of celebrating Gujarat Day along with Ram Navmi and Mother’s Day. To commemorate Mother’s Day all Mothers present were given flowers. Birthday cards were given to all those who had their Birthday this month. He outlined ensuing program activities.
Dr. Mehboob Kapadia was felicitated for arranging Vaccination camps at many places and serving the community. A plaque encasingtheRecognition and AppreciationletterfromtheGovernorof Illinois was presented to Dr. Kapadia as a token of love from Gujarati Seniors of Chicago.
Dr. Kapadia in his address talked about various facets of Covid- 19, its variants, in-depth comparison of various vaccines, their importance, and dangers, the interrelationship of each type, highlighting dangers and their effects. Due to the efforts of his team, they have already vaccinated more than 100,000 people and target to administer at least 1 million shots at the earliest possible..
Dr. Kapadia and his wife Seema Kapadia thanked each member of the team including the Gujarati Seniors of Chicago team who made the vaccination camp a huge success.
Sumptuous Gujarati Lunch prepared by Swaminarayan Temple was enjoyed along with enjoyable music.ShailaKhedkar and Abdul Gafoor of Sursangam performed at the Gujarati Seniors Day celebration. She and Gafoorrendered bhajans- Payoji and Sukhke Sab- besides singing old and new songs. They delighted the audience with their melodious singing.
