CHICAGO: The Annual Convention of the National Federation of Indian Associations held in Chicago last month met with a degree of success, judging from the attendance and the program conducted. Two of the seminars were noteworthy – one was on Investment n India and the other a telecast address by globally famous Dr Pankaj Naram who exposed the ancient science of pulse reading and curative value of Jadibuttis (herbs).
The Convention elected Sohan Joshi as NFIA President and also recognized a number of Indian Americans nationally. Among them were India woman business entrepreneur Hema Potla of Chicago and Dr Hemant Patel, a former president of AAPI. Indian Consul General Ms Mukta Tomar attended the Kick Off and was recognized for her exemplary service to the Indian community. Congressman Joe Walsh endeared himself with his speech lauding India and Indian Americans for their contributions. He actively took part in the cultural program.
