ST LOUIS: The Telugu Association of St Louis (TAS), Missouri celebrated Ugadi Vedukalu last month in a spectacular way at Logan College, Chesterfield, MO.
More than 1250 people attended the event. There were wide range of cultural programs performed by local talent and also performances by Tollywood singers and mimicry artists.
Dressed in attires reflecting Telugu culture and tradition, artists presented programs which drew huge applause from the audience. Stage decoration, audio visuals and great theme to reflect Hindu mythology were the highlights of the event. Huge cutouts of Ganesh, and mango twigs and birds on the stage created Ugadi festive mood for the audience.
There was a thirty-minute cultural program by local talent followed by singing by Tollywood and MAA TV Super Singers Sri Krishna, Geetha Madhuri and Sai Shivani. Mimicry performance by “Mimicry” Ramesh entertained the audience.
President Dr Ramamohan Reddy Paduru reminded everyone of the marvelous successes of the past TAS events and laid out TAS’s next two years plans to get involved in social service programs, especially to engage youth in the social activities.
Vice-President Dr Rama Krishna Gondi and Secretary Kishore Janga played a key role in conducting the event successfully. Treasurer Muralikrishna Puttagunta managed member enrollments and reception area while Cultural Secretary Srikanth Saraswathula coordinated the cultural events. The participants were awarded TAS trophies. Authentic South Indian dinner left the taste buds of everyone satisfied.
