CHICAGO: The North Center Chamber of Commerce has announced hosting its second annual summer fest from August 17 to 19 on Lincoln Avenue from Irving Park Road to Bernice in Chicago
To attract more Fest participants, the Center has decided the addition of Friday night this time The updated festival schedule of the Fest is Friday, August 17 5:00 – 10:00 pm; Saturday, August 18 Noon – 10:00 pm; Sunday, August 19 Noon – 10:00 pm.
The first ever elected India born Alderman Amaya Pwar took active part in helping the Center to organize the event. The North Center, acknowledging the support from the Alderman, said in a statement that it thanked “7th Ward Alderman Pawar for his support on the extension of the event.” It also thanked the residents and businesses that were part of the public meeting process to discuss the Friday night addition.
“In 2011, neighborhood organizations raised nearly $2,000 for their groups when they volunteered at the event,” said Executive Director Garrett Fitzgerald. “We look forward to expanding the opportunities to additional groups this year.”
The North Center Chamber of Commerce is a business and community development organization on Chicago’s near north side. Surrounding the intersection of Lincoln, Damen and Irving Park, it is a vibrant community with great restaurants, rocking bars, and a walkability score that’s almost off the charts.
