'Mahavir Jyot' organizes Knee camps in India

A non-profit, Mahavir Jyot organized three knee camps in April and May 2023 in different states of India. (Palitana, Kutch and Mumbai), for patients with knee problem using modern Blood and Bone marrow stem cell treatment. A total of 123 patients were treated.

This organization has conducted camps since (2017) last 6 years.

  1. A) This was the 7th camp at Palitana (Girivihar trust hospital), where 44 Jain monks were treated.
  2. B) 8th camp was at Kutch (Jankalyan Medical society cancer hospital) Mandvi, where 44 Jain monks were treated
  3. C) 9th camp was at Mumbai (Smt. L.D.K. Gala eye hospital) where 33 monks were treated and 27 patients from general public were treated.

The common people were charged the minimum with no profit considerations.

In this treatment around 50 ml of blood is taken from the patients, then processed and injected into same patient’s knees. Similarly, bone marrow was taken from the tibia of the patients and processed giving back to the same patients.

Total expenses were taken care of by the Mahavir Jyot organization. Blood work and X-ray expenses were taken care of by respective hospitals. The camps are especially for osteoarthritis of knees, elbow, ankle and shoulders joints.

This time patients were from different Jain sampraday and patients’ names are as follows:

  1. Gachhadhipati Acharya Kalaprabhasagarji MS
  2. Mahopadhyay Bhuvanchandra MS
  3. Acharya Bhagyeshsuriji MS
  4. Muni Vimal MS
  5. Gani Raj Ratna Sagar MS
  6. Acharya Harshbodhi MS

  8. Mahasatiji Artibai swami
  9. Mahasatiji Bhavitabai
  10. Mahasatiji Tatvapurnaji

and many more guru bhagwant sadhus and sadhvijis.

Some Jain monks traveled from far away to take benefit of this treatment a second time.

In India, the first patient was Jyoti’s own sister-in-law (Harsha Dharod) treated in 2013. For almost 9 years she did not have pain and now she has pain and she has to go for knee replacement. So basically for almost 10 years surgery was postponed. The way we do angioplasty and delay open heart surgery.

This treatment is very safe as it is patients’ own blood and bone marrow. One can repeat same treatment after some time.

Jyoti Dharod, a prime organizer is a Scientist, Perfusionist, and ECMO specialist, residing in USA. She travels every year for offering this treatment.

Mahavir Jyot team composes of Jyoti Dharod, Dr Suresh Shetty, Dr Alka Mandke, Harsha Dharod, Bharati Sawla, Krupali Bakshi, Jaya Vora, Jitubhai Dedhia and Manish Gogari.
