SAN JOSE, CA: Jhalak Dreams 2012, 5th annual event of Indian Fusion Dance Academy was an eclectic evening comprising two parts held on December 8 at Mt. Pleasant High Auditorium, San Jose. The first half was Carnatic music vocal and Bharatanatyam performances by students of Kalanityam. The second half was a very unique and an extravagant production of Aladdin Bollywood style. The production was enacted by students and teachers of Indian Fusion Dance Academy (IFDA).
The Academy was founded in 2006 by Selvi Pragasam who completed her Masters in dancing from the prestigious Kalaikaviri School of fine arts in South India. IFDA offers Classical, Folk, Bhangra and Bollyfusion dance classes along with Carnatic music and Yoga classes in Evergreen San Jose. The school’s instructors are experts bringing with them experience and quality.
IFDA also is an organization that gives back to the community through its charitable fundraisers and special need programs. The production was executed on a grand scale, complete with exquisite costumes, beautiful choreography, light effects and props along with exceptional young talent.
The event was a fundraiser for Propionic Acidemia Foundation. Propionic Acidemia is an inherited disorder in which the body is unable to process certain parts of proteins and lipids (fats) properly. It affects about 1 in 100,000 people in the United States. Research on various aspects of Propionic acidemia has continued for over 30 years, but we still have much to learn before we can develop a true cure for propionic acidemia patients and their families. India Post team wishes them all success and support for the noble cause.
