CHICAGO: It was a grand victory celebration. Overseas Friends of BJP gathered in large number at short notice at Gayatri Mandir in Itasca to celebrate the assembly elections victory of BJP, a leading Indian political party, aiming to end corruption and ensure good governance in India.
As reports trickled in from India about the outcome of State Assembly elections in Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, BJP marched ahead of its political rivals with large majority and this triggered a grand celebration by the Overseas Friends of BJP.
Many supporters of BJP flocked in to be part of the celebrations that showcased optimism that the Indian voters back home are slowly realizing that there is an urgent need to end the misrule of the hotch-potch parties in the country of their origin.
Addressing the meet, Nirav Patel, a young member of OFBJP and Convener for Global India Bharat Vikas Forum, observed, “This is not the end, but a beginning and we still want to see Narendra Modi as PM in India.” BJP party faces many challenges but finally it is gaining tremendous support from public winning local assembly elections. He added, “We believe the year 2014 will be last year of Congress rule in India and under the leadership of Narendra Modi, BJP will get full majority in parliamentary election.”
Many in the gathering felt that the coming parliamentary election is not only election but it will be “Dharma Yuddh” against Congress rule as Indians are fed up of Congress corruption and scams. The consensus was that Narendra Modi has vision to lead India and he will be a global leader. Pitching for extending support by NRIs across the globe for the 2014 election campaign, the meet concluded by setting guidelines for the support.
NRIs can do many things within permissible legal boundaries like making phone calls, letter writing to their friends and family and go to India for boosting the election campaign. “This is a great chance we have to change India, and we have to grab that,” said Nirav.
Among community leaders attending this event were Dr Bharat Barai, Dr Indrajit, Jitendra Digvenkar, Harendra Mangrola, Parakram Singh, Haribhai Patel, Kalpesh Desai, Amar Upadhya, Veenu Chaudhry, Tilesh Patel, Shrinivas Kompale, Kamlesh Patel, Ketan Raval, Jayantilal Patel among others.
