CHICAGO: Chicago Tamil Sangam (CTS), a cultural organization, hosted a Grand Music Concert on September 26 at Oswego East High School Auditorium, Oswego, and an eagerly anticipated annual event for the Chicagoland Tamil community.
The evening began with Thaai Vazhthu (Invocation to Tamil Goddess) and a minute of silence in memory of Dr Abdul Kalam and Music legend M.S.Viswanathan.
Varadheesh Chennakrishnan commenced the program with a welcome address and introduced the Emcee’s and thanked the sponsors.
A “musical evening” was delivered by Chicagoland singers and artists. An excellent mix of old and new songs, melody and fast-beat songs kept the audience engaged throughout the program. There was never a dull moment during the entire duration of the program which lasted well over four hours.
Radio Mirchi RJ M Karl Marx, C.Sudararaman and Ms. Chitra Ravichandran gracefully emceed the event. Somu Thiru recognized the service and support rendered by Dr Xavier Roche to Chicago Tamil Sangam for the past 18 years.
Prasad Rajaraman delivered the vote of thanks and thanked all the volunteers who helped to make this show a grand success.
Factors crucial to the success of the program were favorable – generous support from sponsors, logistical support from volunteers in setting up the event and in ferrying heavy food items, presence of talented artists, an appreciative audience, and last but not least, the support team of the Oswego East High School, Oswego IL. A potpourri of good songs selection, experienced singers, full orchestra, excellent audio system and a great auditorium helped deliver a very high quality program to our patrons.
With the successful completion of the light music concert, Chicago Tamil Sangam is getting ready to celebrate Children’s Day on December 5.
Children’s Day celebration is another key program from the organization to showcase the talent of the younger generation.
