CHICAGO: The Chicago Chapter of Aam Aadmi Party held a meet and greet session with Sukhpal Singh Khaira, Senior Party leader from Punjab, India on Friday April 28 at Cascade Banquets in Bensenville, a north west suburb of Chicago. It was attended by a large number of NRI volunteers from Indianapolis, Milwaukee and St Louis in addition to large number of volunteers and supporters from Chicagoland.
Khaira touched upon first hand plans of Aam Aadmi Party to come up with solutions for debt ridden state of the Punjab that could once boast of booming economy and all around upswing in all sectors of activities. Things have changed in the State due to corruption.
Khaira observed that the State had reached bottom levels compared to any other state in India due to gross mismanagement by the two major ruling parties that have governed the State since Independence. He discussed each of the problems and how AAP plans to conduct dialogues with all stakeholders in the State to take their inputs and come up with a manifesto and execution plan for each of the 117 constituencies. A campaign under name of ‘Bolda Punjab’ is currently going on with youth of Punjab across all major towns and villages.
Mat Singh Dhillon, Lakhbir Singh and Atul Anand welcomed the gathering and shared his poetry calling for people of Punjab to bring the change it deserves for progress of Punjab.
Gurcharan Singh Jhaj and Jasbir Singh Palia shared his expectations from AAP and encouraged the gathering to support the party that is largely run via voluntarily contributions.
The hugely successful event was conducted by Gurmukh Singh Bhullar. Kartar Singh, Asian Games Gold Medalist in Wrestling and former Police officer who has recently joined AAP, flew in especially from Seattle and addressed the gathering. Pradeep Sundriyal, Convener of AAP USA Overseas group shared details about various AAP chapters in USA and how NRIs have been instrumental in helping the party since its inception and how they can contribute for further success of the party to help root out the menace of corruption from Punjab.
Srikanth Kocharlakota, Secretary of AAP USA Overseas wing, shared some of the major achievements of AAP’s Delhi government in the fields of education, healthcare and tackling menace of corruption in Delhi and how similar plans will be put in place once AAP forms government in Punjab in 2017.
