STONEHAM, MA: Akshaya Patra USA has announced holding its annual 2014 Food for Education Benefit Event on Saturday, December 6 in Milpitas with Barbara Kinney, an award-winning photojournalist, as Keynote speaker. The Benefit Event will be held at the India Community Center in Milpitas, CA.
Infosys CEO Vishal Sikka is the guest of honor at the event and will speak about the special relationship between Akshaya Patra and Infosys. Actress Richa Shukla is the Master of Ceremony for the Event.
Akshaya Patra is the largest NGO-run school meal programs in the world serving over 1.4 million children daily. Just $15 feeds 1 child for an entire school year! At the cost of just 13 cents per meal, Akshaya Patra delivers hot, nutritious, locally sourced mid-day meals to over 10,661 schools from 22 centralized and two de-centralized kitchens in 10 states in India. Akshaya Patra has set an ambitious goal of serving 5 million children daily by 2020.
This year’s event will feature an evening of networking, programmatic updates, and dinner. Business, non-profit, government, and philanthropic leaders from around the region are expected to attend and support the organization’s dual mission of addressing childhood hunger and malnutrition and to promote education for underserved children in India.
The event will start with a Reception at 5:30 pm, followed by Program and Dinner.
