BOSTON, MA: Shivalaya Temple of Greater Boston, MA celebrated Hanuman Janmotsav on Saturday, March 31 with devotees to commemorate the birth of Lord Hanuman, in a cultural and traditional way. On this auspicious day, devotees worshipped him to obtain his magical strengths to keep them away from evil powers and troubles in life.
The celebration started in the evening with a special Abhishekam of Lord Ganesh, Ma Gauri, Lord Shiva and Lord Hanuman. In the temple, Hanuman idol was adorned with a special Alankaram with nice clothes and attractive jewellery and garlands. Devotees offered lots of sweets to Lord Hanuman. After the Abhishekam, temple priest Pt. Gangadhar performed Satya Narayana Pooja and recited Katha in a melodic tune to all the devotees with brief explanation.
It is said that Hanuman Chalisa is one of the great poetic works of Goswami Tulsidas that holds a special place and importance among Hindus. It is believed that reciting Hanuman Chalisa is very powerful as it helps to reduce the effects of Sade Sati, and also brings good health and prosperity. On this occasion, Pt. Gangadhar recited Hanuman Chalisa along with devotees with utmost devotion for prosperity, success, and peace.
Prasad was distributed to all the devotees after Maha Mangalarati. Melodic Aarti songs filled the shrine with spiritual atmosphere. The priest thanked all the devotees for their active participation and involvement.
