CHICAGO: The Brahma Samaj of Greater Chicago kept up its tradition of celebrating Diwali by holding a dinner at the newly built Fairfield Suites by Marriott in Schaumburg last week where all the member families and close friends met, mingled and greeted each other
The evening started with a prayer. The Lamp lighting was done by the President, John Trivedi and the members of the Executive Committee. Religious Committee chair Dr. Vinay Mehta and Chicagoland’s favorite Shree Rohitbhai did the prayers.
Miss Dhvanii Raval, young Brahmin high school girl gave a mesmerizing talk about “Pride” of being the Brahmin. It listed all the “Firsts” from Aryabhatt in Mathematics to Shushrut and his surgical innovations in ancient times to Satya Nadela and Sundar Pichai in modern times.
After this, on one side, the music and songs started for the adults and on the other side, the Magic Show and the Balloon artist entertained the younger partygoers. Hitesh Master’s Orchestra and all the famous singers of Chicagoland entertained the vast crowd for more than three hours. There was tremendous excitement in the crowd.
The appetizers were very appropriate for Diwali. A tasty dinner followed. After giving plaques to all the committee workers who needed to be appreciated and recognized, the President, John Trivedi stressed the role played by the youth and how they can carry the torch forward from here. He laid out his vision for the tremendous growth of the BSGC and how it has become a known organization in Chicago and the whole of USA.
In his unique style, Vice President Raj Trivedi narrated the service and devotion of each recipient of the Plaque. Raj’s birthday was on the same day and it was celebrated with a generous gift from the Trivedi Hospitality Group, the owners of the Marriott Schaumburg location.
The attendees enjoyed the excellent music right up to midnight. Everyone wished each other a Happy Diwali and a very happy and Prosperous New Year. Raffle prizes were constantly announced and winners claimed their prizes.
It was equally pleasant to see that the new membership registration area had a queue. Lots of Life Members were enrolled. Special thanks also go President, John Trivedi, Vice President Raj Patel, Treasurer Harisidh Trivedi and all members of the Youth Committee for their hard work and devotion.
