TRACY, CA: Interfaith activist Rajan Zed was honored by City of Tracy in California recently with a Proclamation.
The Proclamation, signed by Tracy Mayor Brent H. Ives, states: To honor Rajan Zed’s initiatives to bring various religious communities together throughout the world to live in peace and mutual trust through dialogue.
Proclamation also adds: To honor Rajan Zed’s leadership roles in attempting to help the helpless.
Zed, President of Universal Society of Hinduism, opened the Tracy City Council on April 16 with its first Hindu invocation in 103 years of its founding, containing verses from world’s oldest existing scripture, and after sprinkling few drops of water from river Ganga of India considered holy by Hindus.
Seven cities in California, Connecticut, Utah and Nevada have already declared Zed’s birthday October 25 as “Rajan Zed Day”.
Rajan Zed is a global religious leader, who besides taking up the cause of religion worldwide, has also raised huge voice against the apartheid faced by about 15-million Roma (Gypsies) in Europe. Bestowed with World Interfaith Leader Award; Zed is Senior Fellow and Religious Advisor to Foundation for Religious Diplomacy, Spiritual Advisor to National Association of Interchurch & Interfaith Families, etc.
“Live-Play-Think Inside the Triangle” is the tagline of female-majority Tracy, where Michael Maciel and R. Leon Churchill Junior are Mayor Pro Tem and City Manager respectively. Prominent people associated with Tracy include rapper MC Hammer, singer Thia Megia, soccer player Troy Dayak, and football players Keena Turner and Nick Eddy.
