CHICAGO: It is the end of an academic year in Chicago education calendar and there is no better occasion to celebrate than the achievements of children. Veteran community leader and FIA trustee Iftekhar Shareef hosted a lunch party for friends and relatives to celebrate the successful graduation of his son Afzar Shareef from Loyola University and daughter Iram Shareef from high school.
Many distinguished Indian and Pakistani community members joined the celebration event at Holiday Inn Skokie on June 5. Indian Consul General in Chicago Dr Ausaf Sayeed, Dr Bharat Barai, FIA leaders Anil Pillai, Sohan Joshi, Keerthi Kumar Ravoori, Air India Chicago Manager Nakul Chand, Etihad Airways Sales Executive Mohammad Anwer and many others were among the invited guests.
Ashfaq Sharief welcomed the guests and invited both Afzar and Iram to join the podium for the celebration cake ceremony. Iftekhar Shareef and other family members also joined.
Later, Iftekhar Shareef thanked all for joining his personal event. Known for his oratory skills in community events, a smiling Shareef said that all his close friends and relatives were there for his family celebration and for him, it appeared more like a community event.
The guests congratulated Afzar and Iram for their achievements.
