CHICAGO: Although the construction is half way thru, devotees of Hanumanji wanted to have a grand celebration of Hanuman Jayanti at Hanuman Spiritual and Community Center in Glenview, a northwest suburb of Chicago last week.
More than 150 Mandir committee members and devotees led by Dr Chandra Khurana gathered at the temple site wherein the 22 ft idol of Hanumanji was uncovered for Darshan, Aarti and prayers by those in attendance. It was a site to watch as the spiritual fervor engulfed everyone and all felt as if Hanumanji had blessed them.
The Mandir was launched with the grace of divine blessings of Hanuman Ji on December 14, 2013 in the presence of 170 dedicated devotees to celebrate the Bhumi Shudhi (land sanctification). The holy occasion marked the acquiring of a 4.1-acre parcel of land situated in Glenview, Illinois, for the construction of Hanuman Spiritual and Community Center, now popularly known as Hanuman Mandir of Greater Chicago. The memorable moment marked the beginning of realization of a noble and long cherished dream of Indian community residing in the northern suburbs of Chicago.
The construction is more than half way thru and Dr Khurana expressed the hope that the formal launch of the Mandir will be before the onset of winter this year. It will house the tallest idol of Hanuman Ji and will turn out to be not only a powerful spiritual center but also a great attraction for visitors to this windy city.
