CHICAGO: Hindi Classes conducted by Hindi Premi Sangh that seek to impart basics of Hindi language to second generation Indians here have now entered the second year of its successful launch.
The enthusiasm shown by many a young intending students made one feel that the efforts by the Sangh chief Ms Gurbachan Kaur and the Hindi teacher Guruji Arjun Yesudas have begun bearing fruit
The first year course certificate presentation ceremony was held at the Devon Ganesh Temple and it was attended by students and some of the parents who would want their children to get at least a working knowledge of Indian national language Hindi.
Gurbachan Kaur in a talk to this paper said that she was a bit hesitant and skeptical of success while starting the classes a year ago but is now convinced that there are a group of Indian Americans who would want their children to know about India and Indian languages. “And it is this group who have been supportive of our venture and have helped turning it into a successful effort. We will not stay put in running these classes in coming years,” she said
Gurbachan Kaur paid handsome tribute to Guruji Yesudas saying, “His enthusiasm and dedication in no small measure led to the successful conducing of the classes and our Hindi Premi Sangh is thankful to people like him. We would urge more Indian American community activists to actively participate in running these classes either by way of offering voluntary services and their time besides helping us enlisting more students for the classes. We look forward to having second and third year courses for those who have completed first year class” she added.
Guru Yesudas said that he was happy teaching the students and would want to see more and more students to get registered and use this facility to improve their Hindi language skill. A part of the temple facility was packed with students and parents during the Certificate presentation ceremony on Saturday August 19.
