CHICAGO: India Post Community Editor Surendra Ullal was bereaved with the sad demise of his son Vishal Ullal, 46, who passed away on Thursday October 18 at his residence after battling severe depression.
Vishal was an environmental engineer. He had migrated from Manglore, India to this country at the age of six in the late seventies. He had his schooling here, graduating from University of Illinois at Chicago with honors. He was very popular among his classmates and friends. He was soft spoken yet charismatic and loving.
He most loved to spend time with his daughter as well as the children of his two brothers, Gautam and Shyam. His end was tragic and most unpredictable.
His father Surendra is also a very respected figure in the Indian community being a prolific writer and a tax consultant. He was a history professor at Mumbai University. His mother, Kripa Ullal, is a retired former owner of a successful printing business in downtown Chicago.
Vishal is survived by his parents, his only daughter, two brothers, sisters in law, nephews and niece. Cremation was held in West Chicago on Saturday in the morning. Though it was short notice the place was filled with a large number of his friends, admirers, relatives and family members. All prayed to the God Almighty that his soul rest in eternal peace
