Indian Seniors host annual musical program

CHICAGO: The Indian Seniors of Chicago (ISC) celebrated their Annual Musical Nite at Manav Seva Mandir, Benselville, a north side suburb of Chicago, November. Close to 500 members and guests attended this nearly three-hour program.

The program started with Hirabhai Patel on behalf of the executive committee welcoming all to the celebration. He stated that his program was for the families of seniors and therefore everybody should enjoy this as a family event rather than a public event.

Arvindbhai Kotak invited Dr. Anantbhai Rawal, Kokila Patel and Lalitaben Patel on stage for Deep Pragatya. Dilipbhai Patel then invited chief guest Chhotalal Patel, special guests Mafatbhai Patel, Bhailalbhai Patel, Dahyabhai Prajapati, Pradip Patel, Rajubhai Chauhan and president Dr Narsinhbhai Patel on to the stage.

After the Deep Pragatya ceremony there was a photo session with invited guests, executive committee members and advisory committee member. This was followed by the musical group of Pavitra rendering a praye. Naresh Dekhtawala gave information of Tipni dance group, which gave an excxellent performance.

Chief guest Chhotalal Patel was honored with a bouquet of flowers. President Dr Narsinhbhai Patel gave a talk on health problems of senior citizens.

ISC is a registered not-for-profit organization, started in 2001. The organization’s main goal is to give a social platform to the Indian senior diaspora. It organizes cultural activities, monthly meetings, informational seminars, visits to interesting places, picnics, and group travel to local and international destinations. The organization gives special consideration to widowed spouses of deceased single seniors to help them address their risk of developing depression due to lonesomeness and isolation.
