CHICAGO: The International Society for Spiritual Advancement (ISSA) recently celebrated its 7th Annual 108 Sunderkand Mahayagya on April 20 at Chinmaya Mission (Badri) in WillowBrook, a north side suburb of Chicago.
More than 400 devotees coming from all over Chicagoland, Washington DC, Maryland, Iowa, Wisconsin, Virginia, and India attended this auspicious event and recited the holy Sunderkand from Sant Tulsidas’s Shri Ramcharit Manas, simultaneously in unison, led by Shri Ramanand Ji (Dr Rama S. Dwivedi).
The Mahayagya ceremony commenced with Hari Naam Sankirtan by Shri Girish Bhatt, which was followed by Bhajans by Anjana Savsani and Raj Angad Gurtatta. One of the highlights of the program was the offering of Chappan Bhog (56 food offerings) to the Lord, by the ISSA members and devotees from all parts of the country.
Maneesha Sharma and Namrata Patel welcomed all the devotees and distinguished guests – Swami Sharanananda Ji, GuruJi Shri Jaychandra Raj (a renowned Indian astrologer) and Dr Pradheep Kumar Chhalliyil.
The Mahayagya started with the lighting of ceremonial lamp. This was followed by Swasti Vachan and ahwaan (invocation) ceremony. The recitation of the Sunderkand was led by Shri Ramanand Ji. Shri Hanuman Chalisa Path was recited by children of members of ISSA. The bhajans were concluded with a blissful “dekho yeh bhakta aaya mohan tere mandir mein, and param dhan radha” sung by Ramshraddha Das and everyone in the temple was dancing in ecstasy.
On behalf of ISSA Inderjeet Gurtatta, Chief Coordinator, thanked all the guests for making it a very transcendental and memorable event. A special recognition was given to all the volunteers for their hard work. All guests were offered Vaishnav Prasadam.
