CHICAGO: Large number of seniors and their family members joined the Metropolitan Asian Family Services (MAFS) and Universal Metro Asian Services attending the First International Day of Yoga celebrated held at Odium Center in Villa Park.
Over 1000 packets of food and fruits were distributed by MAFS. The day for the seniors started seeing Benefit of Yoga slideshow which was presented by Patanjali Yogpeth of Chicago. Ms. Bhanumati Mehta, a longtime volunteer of MAFS presented Laughing Yoga for its seniors, she also explained importance of Yoga and Pranayama for seniors.
The program for the seniors concluded with “Meditation for Heart” by Mr.Raga Ragavendran of Sahaj Marg. MAFS seniors and their family members were very excited and thanked Indian Consulate team and MAFS Chief Ms Santosh Kumar for presetting them withhe opportunity to attend this greatly successful program.
We truly recognize holistic benefit of this timeless practice and are proud that that world is recognizing us, says Mrs. Kumar. She urged asked all her seniors and staff members to adopt practice of yoga in their lives.
Metropolitan Asian Family services (MAFS) and Universal Metro Asian Services (UMAS) are Multicultural, Multiethnic community organization. They have 8 senior centers in Chicago area and are serving the community for the past 22 years. Many locations of MAFS are now starting free yoga classes for seniors and their family members.
