CHICAGO: A gathering of over 100 people present at Masti Grill & Karaoke, Devon Avenue, Chicago, on Saturday Nov 16 could not have hoped for better spending their weekend than listening to old and new Bollywood songs from talented local artists.
This sold out event starting at 7 pm went on well past midnight with clamor for continuation as Bollywood songs were sung by 20 singers. Both amateurs and professional singers entertained the crowd for hours. People from different suburbs of Chicago, southern Illinois and neighboring states of Wisconsin, Indiana and even Florida flocked to MastiGrill to listen to their favorite Bollywood numbers.
The $20 admission fee included a full buffet of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes and over 5 hours of musical entertainment. Master of Ceremony for the occasion was Mujeeb Ahmed, Founder of Masti Karaoke. He kicked off the program by welcoming everyone to the Chicago ki Aawaz.
Dr Siraj Ahmed, an emcee along with co-emcee Jeen Varghese let the first hour open for members of the audience to show their hidden talents. This turned out to be a good move as a number of talented singers including Sal Merchant, Nandini, Shaz, Virendra Kothari, Mohan, Ishaan, Mustiaq Rafi, and not to mention Moin with his beautiful poetry, won over all those present.
Masti-Entertainment started a year ago with a handful of members and has blossomed with over 240 members now and continues to grow. Its mission is to bring out hidden talents within the Desi community and support singers to realize their potential. Being an integral part of the group will provide the singers opportunity to perform at local events.
Masti-Entertainment is a group for “any person” who is an amateur or professional, young or old, male or female, genuinely interested in listening and/or singing Bollywood or any Indian/Pakistani melody.
