CHICAGO: The Midwest Punjabi Association (MPA) plans hosting theevent- Punjabi Virsa (Punjabi Heritage)- to mark the celebration of seasonal festival of Vaisakhi and to pay tribute to the unsung heroes of Jallianwala Bagh massacre that took place on 13 April 1919 at Amritsar in Punjab (India).
The event is scheduled for 6.00 pm on Sunday, 1st May 2022 at Ashton Place – 341 75th St, Willowbrook, a Chicago suburb Consul General Amit Kumar & Mrs. Surabhi Kumar will be the Chief Guests. It is being organized in collaboration with the Consulate General of India, Chicago. The eventwill also commemorate 75th anniversary of India’s Independence.
The Program will include:
1. Rendition of Gurbani Kirtan in classical Indian style of music
2. Remarks by Consul General Amit Kumar
3. Remarks by dignitaries
4. Audio Visual presentation based on the poetry of Nanak Singh, legendary Punjab novelist and poet and eye witness of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre
5. Presentation on Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore’s Poetry
6. Poetry Session with Punjabi, Hindi & Urdu poets
7. Dinner
