CHICAGO: The Punjabi Cultural Society of Chicago (PCS) will keep up its decade-long tradition of participating in the Chicago’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thanksgiving Thursday November 22 on State Street downtown Chicago.
The parade usually is watched by over 350,000 on-street spectators along the parade route on the State Street and this excludes people watching on TV. This will be a magical and memorable experience for all. PCS float is unit number 48 in the line-up of more than 100 units.
PCS has been participating in this parade with a float and Bhangra contingent since 2005. It gives the community a great exposure in the mainstream. This is extremely important especially after the last presidential elections The theme of the PCS float and it’s contingent is an Indian/Punjabi Maharaja wedding party (Baraat), which will include the bride and the groom in traditional Punjabi wedding outfits, the Baraatis in festive ethnic costumes, Punjabi Dhol, amplified Bhangra music and Bhangra dancing on State Street all the way to the end.
The Chicago Festival Association (CFA), a unique and exciting nonprofit organization in the city of Chicago, produces this Uncle Dan’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
