CHICAGO: The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) will start the season of festivities in the Midwest for India’s 70th Independence Day on Sunday August 7 with Bollywood star, Rakhi Sawant.
Beginning at 2 pm, the event will be held at DuPage County Fairgrounds, in Wheaton, a northwest suburb of Chicago.
“Within a week, since several events are scheduled related to the Indian Independence Day, we decided not to create any conflict with other programs and hold our festival a week earlier,” said Sunil Shah, FIA’s Founder President. “FIA believes in working together.”
FIA’s event will be free of charge. Despite bringing Rakhi Sawant and a renowned musical group of Bollywood “Seven Star,” he said, “We don’t want to charge general public a single penny,”he said
FIA is immensely thankful to its donors and sponsors for supporting this expensive project. Rakhi Sawant is one of the celebrated Bollywood film and television actresses, a dancer, model, and television talk show host, who has appeared in many Hindi and a few Kannada, Marathi, Telugu, and Tamil movies.
A lot of children’s rides have been arranged along with several food stalls and ethnic vendors.
