CHICAGO: Right now, India is battling a deadly COVID-19 second wave. Many hospitals and clinics have run out of oxygen, medical supplies are low, and vaccine production isn’t keeping pace.
The good news is that help is on the way, from countries all over the world including the U.S. government. Hindu American Foundation (HAF) has been coordinating with the White House, Congressional India Caucus, USAID, as well as doctors and physicians who practice in both the U.S. and India.
It is necessary to urge the White House to prioritize sharing surplus doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine and any available sources of raw materials to help India manufacture more vaccines, Amphotericin B to help treat a surge of Mucormycosis and grant the request for supplies and equipment made by members of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans.
If this pandemic has taught us anything, it is that this horrible virus does not recognize borders. As such, it is squarely in our country’s interest to help India get its citizens’ vaccinated.
It will be highly appreciated if Indian Americans across the country send a message to President Biden and Vice President Harris to help India get vaccinated!
