FREMONT: On November 19, the Fremont Hindu Temple celebrated Koti Somvar memorably in a one of a kind event in the San Francisco Bay Area, building a Shiva Lingam with one hundred thousand rudraksha garlands. Mondays in the month of Karthik are the most auspicious days in the Hindu calendar. It is customary to pray to Lord Shiva on every Monday this month. This occasion was marked by hundreds of devotees offering archana from 12pm until 10 pm. The air of the temple was alive with pious Vedic mantras and chants of shlokas praying to Lord Shiva.
Manorama Joshi, an organizer of the event, said that participating in this abhishekam is similar to performing the one hundred thousand archanas. With its weekly and daily puja schedules, Fremont Hindu Temple strives to offer a wide range of prayers and abhishekam that allow devotees to celebrate all auspicious occasions with complete rites and rituals.
The Shiva Rudra Abhishekam event concluded with Priti Bhoj for all the devotees.
