CHICAGO: Six Gam Patidar Samaj (SGPS) hosted a splendid Diwali Dinner Celebration with SGPS families, friends, and relatives on Saturday, November 9 at India House Banquet in Schaumburg, a northwest suburb of Chicago
Speeches were short matched by delicious traditional Diwali live entertainment, dazzling decoration, mouth watering food and cultural program blended with vibrant dances.
SGPS-Chicago secretary Nirav Amin and Binti Patel emceed the event which started with welcome speech by SGPS-Chicago president Diptesh Desai and progressed with a classical Hindu prayer.
The keynote speech was given by activist Beenaben Patel, followed by speeches from guests and the cultural performances. SGPS-Chicago promotes education by awarding student of the year awards every year for High School graduates. The winner of “Student of the year” award for 2013 was Mihir Desai. Academic Excellence was given to Shiv Desai.
SGPS-Chicago Chairperson introduced the young and dynamic board of Directors and Board of Trustees to the community by inviting them on the stage. Secretary Nirav Amin proposed a “Vote of Thanks”. Dinner was accompanied with live entertainment: Music by Amit Patel, and singers Ajay Bhatia and Radhika. The dance floor was open with DJ Abhi Trivedi’s music. The raffle prize winner was announced and a prize was awarded. The event concluded with traditional Gujarati Garba round on the dance floor.
