ST LOUIS: Globally known Indian maestro of Bhajans and Ghazals Anup Jalota has remarked that “Sunil Mungee will take Indian music to greater heights” and by all accounts this upcoming Indian artist has been living up to this expectation with concerts all around.
Seema Enterprises, a St Louis based entity, has announced hosting a nite of Ghazals and Bhajans by Sunil Mungee on Saturday March 28 at Wydown Middle School auditorium in St Louis. Ashwin Patel said that Seema has been in the entertainment filed besides its usual forage into travel and grocery, and the Sunil concert was decided after a huge request that “we have been getting for the past few months.”
The response for the concert so far has been meeting “our expectations and we are reasonably sure that Sunil too will not disappoint his hundreds of fans,” he added.
Sunil in one his recent interviews said that he was Ghazal and Bhajan singer with great music learning experience from the Maestro Pandit Jitendra Abhishekiji, under the traditional Guru Shishya Parampara. He was with his Guru-Teacher for 15 years and has performed all over the world sharing stage many a time with maestros like Ustad Bismillah Khan Sahab (Great Shehnai maestro), Pandit Jasraj, Sonal Mansingh, Ghulam Ali, Anup Jalota and Anuradha Paudwal, to name a few.
Sunil’s sojourn in the music world started even while he was five years old starting with film songs, small participation in the school curricular activities and presentations at small family gatherings. His real journey commenced when Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki spotted him when he was barely 13 and under his tutelage for 15 years, Sunil learnt a lot and has not looked back.
Ashwin Patel said that Sunil has planned a theme concert called “Gulistaan” with finest ghazals and old nostalgic film songs for the tour of North America that starts from April through July. The one in St Louis is however on Satruday March 28.
